Hey guys :)
So this post is gonna be about some of the trends predicted for Spring/Summer 2012. Now, these are just some of the trends and I personally find it fun trying to incorporate them into my outfits. Don't forget, style is personal so you are under no obligation to follow or like any trend, just dress how you feel and work it!
The key to this look is subtlety. Don't wear sporty pieces from head to toe, just incorporate a few pieces into your overall look. A great way to start is with accessories, like an oversized sports watch or some wedged sneakers. Another good idea is to wear a racerback tank with sporty stripes or a waterproof jacket in a bright colour.
This is one of my favourite trends. The easiest way to try this trend out is to add a pastel coloured handbag or blazer to an otherwise neutral look. This trend looks great with a more preppy feel also, just put together a pastel coloured pleated skirt with a buttoned up blouse. Try contrasting shades for a more fashion forward feel. Also, you can't beat a simple white tank top teamed with pastel coloured skinny jeans.
Say hello to the new LBD! Worn correctly, this can be one of the most versatile pieces in your closet. If you're not comfortable in just a jumpsuit, then a belt or blazer is a great way to break up the look. Don't wear a jumpsuit with a pattern though, wear a solid colour (black is my favourite jumpsuit colour and the most flattering). If you aren't 100% comfortable with your figure, then choose a wide leg version that will skim over your curves perfectly.
There are tonnes of florals on the catwalk these days. If you really wanna go for it, then try mixing clashing florals for a high fashion look. Or you can simply team a cute floral dress with nude accessories for a summery feel.
This is one of the best colours to wear because of it's versatility. This can be combined with everything and never looks garish. A nude heel is great for elongating the legs. It's also a beautiful colour on the nails.
20's style is back with a bang! This is due to the remake of the Great Gatsby movie. Think vintage 20's and you're on the right track. The key piece to this look is the flapper dress. The hemline should be short (just above the knee), the dress should have a box like silhouette with a flattened chest. Look for key detailing like fringing and beading. If you really wanna embrace this style, then rock a short sharp bob or light waves.
So these were just a few of the trends for Spring/Summer 2012. However, don't feel the need to be a slave to fashion. Just wear what you feel comfortable in and be yourself :)
